Fixes for the usual problems, and how to reach me if something else is wrong.

Quick checklist before you play

  1. Everyone installs or updates Local Poker while they still have internet.
  2. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are switched on on every device. They don't need to be connected to anything.
  3. Everyone taps Allow when iOS asks about Local Network access.
  4. One person taps Host a Table, everyone else taps Join a Table.

Common questions

Friends can't see my table. What should I check?

Make sure everyone has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switched on (they don't need to be connected to a network), everyone allowed Local Network access for Local Poker, and you're within the same room or so. The host should keep Local Poker open on screen while friends join.

The app says “Turn on Local Network.” How do I fix it?

Open Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Local Network, and switch on Local Poker. Without this permission, iOS won't let the phones find each other.

Someone got disconnected in the middle of a hand.

Ask them to open Local Poker again. It reconnects to the table on its own, and until it does, that player sits out as away. Their chips are safe.

How do we continue a game from yesterday?

The host's phone saves the game. When the host taps Host a Table, Local Poker asks “Resume your last game?” Tap Resume Game and everyone gets their chips back when they rejoin.

Do all players need the same app version?

Update everyone to the latest version before you go offline. Downloading and updating need internet, but playing doesn't.

How do nearby table alerts work?

Tap the bell on the Home screen to turn them on. When a host you've played with before opens a table nearby, your phone shows a notification, even with no internet. Alerts use Bluetooth, so keep it on.

Can I play without other people?

Yes. Host a table, add bots and tap Deal Cards. Bots fill any empty seat, up to 8 players in total.
